HAVANA HOTSPOTS
While enjoying your time in the beautiful city of Havana, be sure to check out these cultural hotspots.
La Zorra y el Cuervo - The Best Latin Jazz
Entering by way of a London telephone box, you descend to the holy of holies of Cuban jazz. There are often excellent groups playing here who have sometimes played on out into the street with the audience following behind them. A must to visit, especially during the jazz festival.
Callejón de Hamel - The Street of Art
This small street with huge mural didn’t get famous until 1990 when the creative initiative of Cuban Salvador Gonzalez and his many collaborators transformed the dusty side street in to a mural-lined inner city wonderland. It now has small studios, galleries, welded street sculpture and altars dedicated to Afro-Cuban traditions. Saturdays at midday it fills with rumba music gatherings, boleros and poetry.
